چکیده

Abstract Background Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the leading causes community-acquired pneumonia. Due to its microbiological variation, clinical presentations mycoplasma infections are atypical and diverse. Multiple pulmonary extrapulmonary manifestations have been documented. Among pulmonary, common fever, malaise, lymphadenopathy, pneumonia, upper respiratory tract infections, sinusitis, etc. Necrotising pneumonia cavitation as a manifestation rather an uncommon presentation. Case presentation We reporting rare case 5-year-old female child who presented with bilateral haemorrhagic pleural effusion necrotising along in form maculo-papular rash, Coombs-positive haemolytic anaemia serositis. The was started on azithromycin symptomatic management, but she did not respond it; had worsening evidence radiological treated macrolide-resistant levofloxacin, steroids rigorous physiotherapy. Conclusions Accurate acumen timely imaging need hour for early diagnosis (MRMP). This also emphasises role fluoroquinolones treatment

Macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae in paediatric pneumonia.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the most common causes of bacterial community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in paediatrics, and can lead to severe and long-lasting disease [1]. Macrolides are usually considered the first-choice antimicrobials for M. pneumoniae CAP in children because the alternatives (i.e. fluoroquinolones and tetracyclines) are not approved for use in the first years of life [2]. The purpose of this study was to clarify the prevalence and clinical characteristics of macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae in adolesc...

Extrapulmonary involvement associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection usually presents with upper and lower respiratory tract infection. Extrapulmonary involvement is not uncommon, however. We report two cases of predominantly extrapulmonary manifestations of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection without significant pulmonary involvement. Both cases were diagnosed by serology. These cases illustrate the diversity of clinical presentation...
